#FRANCEisON | Monthly CXO Rendez-Vous

The construction and materials industry is undergoing major changes driven by sustainability goals, regulatory challenges, and workforce dynamics. Leaders today must find the right balance between innovation and stability while adapting to shifting demographic trends.

In this context, the FCCCO was pleased to welcome David Redfern, CEO & President of Lafarge Eastern Canada and US ACM, for our May CXO Rendez-Vous, held in collaboration with ICICI Bank. He shared valuable insights on sustainable growth, the importance of regulatory predictability, and the evolving workforce landscape.

Key Highlights from the Event

🔹 Sustainability at scale

David explained that while the EU and North America face different regulatory environments, both regions share a commitment to low-carbon, circular, and efficient construction. Achieving sustainability means adopting innovative materials and practices that reduce environmental impact while ensuring economic viability. Collaboration across sectors is essential to meet these ambitious goals.

🔹 The power of stability

Regulatory uncertainty, including fluctuating tariffs, poses challenges for investment and planning. David stressed that predictable and consistent policies are critical for building investor confidence and enabling companies to make long-term strategic decisions. Stability helps avoid disruptions and supports steady industry growth.

🔹 A changing workforce

Demographic shifts are transforming the industry’s talent pool. For millennials, meaningful work and career development are top priorities. The sector must adapt by opening its doors wider and creating inclusive, supportive environments to attract and retain younger talent, which is vital for addressing skills gaps and driving future innovation.

A Platform for Collaboration and Insight

The FCCCO’s Monthly CXO Rendez-Vous offers a unique space for senior leaders to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and explore forward-looking strategies.

Spotlight on Local SMEs

Each CXO Rendez-Vous begins with a showcase by a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME), providing them with an opportunity to share their vision and expertise with the business community.

This month, we welcomed TeamWork Corporate, a global tech and consulting firm with strong Canadian roots, specializing in digital transformation and SAP solutions. Their entrepreneurial spirit and client-focused approach generated a dynamic discussion with our community.

We thank Ana Laura Arreguin for her valuable contribution to the session.

Our sincere thanks to David Redfern, TeamWork Corporate, ICICI Bank, and all participants who made this event a success.
