On July 14, 2026, the France Canada Chamber of Commerce (ON, MB) proudly unveiled the French Mile, a landmark initiative recognizing the longstanding contribution of French businesses, institutions, and communities to Toronto's economic, cultural, and luxury landscape.

Organized in collaboration with the City of Toronto, Holt Renfrew and the Consulate General of France in Toronto, the initiative transformed a section of Bloor Street into the symbolic "French Mile", celebrating the excellence and influence of the French business ecosystem in Canada.

A Community United Around French Excellence

The celebration brought together representatives from the French and Canadian business communities, alongside public officials and leading international brands, to commemorate this historic milestone.

Guests were welcomed by Riva Walia, the Founding Managing Director of the France Canada Chamber of Commerce (ON, MB), before remarks from The Honourable Bertrand Pous, Consul General of France in Toronto, Councillor Dianne Saxe, and Natalie Penno, Senior Vice President, Retail at Holt Renfrew.

The symbolic walk along the newly designated French Mile reflected the Chamber's mission to strengthen economic, cultural, and business ties between France and Canada.

A Showcase of French Innovation and Influence

The French Mile highlights the remarkable contribution of French companies across a wide range of industries, from luxury and retail to beauty, finance, and consumer goods.

Among the companies represented were internationally recognized brands including L'Oréal, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Cartier, Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Sephora, Estée Lauder, Christian Louboutin, Diptyque, alongside Canadian partners such as RBC, etc.

Together, these organizations demonstrate the depth of French expertise, innovation, craftsmanship, and investment that continue to shape Toronto's business landscape.

Building a New Bastille Day Tradition

More than a ceremonial designation, the French Mile was conceived as the beginning of a lasting annual tradition celebrating the French presence in Toronto.

By bringing together public institutions, businesses, community leaders, and cultural partners, the initiative showcased the strength of collaboration between France and Canada while reinforcing Toronto's position as a vibrant hub for French business.

As this new tradition begins, the French Mile will continue to celebrate the people, businesses, and partnerships that strengthen the France–Canada relationship for years to come.
